Mikuláš Klaudyán: první mapa Čech 1518 / Nicolaus Claudianus: first map of Bohemia 1518

The oldest map of the Bohemian Kingdom was created as the first in Central Europe. Its author was the  physician from Mladá Boleslav Nicolaus Claudianus (?–1521), who was inspired by the model of travel maps by Erhard Etzlaub. The Bohemian Kingdom was shown too schematically on the maps created so far, Claudianus's map thus became the first best detailed map of the Bohemian Kingdom. There were not many original copies, so expensive manuscript copies were made.
