Each employee of the Faculty of Science is required to observe occupational health and safety as well as fire safety rules from the day they join the Faculty. In addition, managerial employees are obligated to verify the observance of such principles by their subordinates. Managers are also obligated to observe the Labour Code and other regulations covering occupational and fire safety in relation to their subordinates.

What do I do in the event of an occupational injury?

If you or your co-workers sustain an injury, this must be reported to your supervisor without delay. If urgent action is needed to protect a person’s health or life, call a medical rescue service at 155 or 112; please ensure you cooperate in explaining the causes of the injury.

An AED (Automated External Defibrillator) is available in the buildings at Albertov 6 and Viničná 7.

The devices are located in protective cabinets in the lobby of each building. These buildings are marked with a green sticker featuring a white cross and the letters AED.

The cabinet contains the defibrillator itself, two electrode pads, scissors, a razor, and a cloth (the razor is used if chest hair needs to be removed, the scissors can be used to cut clothing if necessary, and the cloth is for drying the chest if it is wet). No prior training is required to use the device. Operation is simple — the defibrillator will guide you through the process with voice instructions as soon as it is turned on.

Instructional videos for the identical Philips device used in our buildings can be found here:
