Courses for Erasmus students at Faculty of Science
At the Faculty of Science, the courses are taught in the Czech as a rule, however, there is a wide range of courses guaranteed in English (see the list here).
► Czech language courses
Concerning courses taught in Czech (or not guaranteed), the international students have to contact the respective teachers to ask for the tuition in English. Only after getting teacher’s approval, these not-guaranteed courses can be confirmed in student’s Learning Agreement and duly enrolled in SIS (Student Information System) at Charles University. To get the teacher’s approval, please, use this form.
Erasmus students are allowed to study courses from different faculties of Charles University (less than 50 % of courses indicated in the Learning Agreement). However, even with the teacher's signature on the Confirmatory form (see above), we can not guarantee your admission to the course (capacity reasons etc.). To avoid problems, please, choose courses only from the Faculty of Science, Charles University (your hoest faculty).
Note, to get the approval from the teachers of courses provided by The Third Faculty of Medicine, please, contact MSc. Marika Bendová (marika.bendova@lf3.cuni.cz) first!

Grading system
The grading system of the Charles University is described here. Please, note that MARKS can be obtained only for courses finishing with an exam (Ex or C+Ex in the detail of the course)! Other courses can only be evaluated with CREDIT POINTS, no MARKS! Please, note, that there is no percentage evaluation!
Examination
The requirements to pass a course have to be written in SIS (Student Information System). At the beginning of the semester, teachers usually inform their students about the course requirements, which cannot be changed during the semester.
The courses are concluded by an exam = Ex, by credits = C, or by a combined exam (Ex + C). According to the type of conclusion, the requirements can differ. An exam can be performed in an oral, written (multiple-choice, essay, open questions, etc.), or combined way. The requirements to receive credits usually consist of a presentation of an article, attendance at the course, homework, or essays during the semester etc.
The dates of the exams are usually announced a few weeks before the exam period. The teachers announce several terms of the exam (3 is mandatory) in SIS and students choose a term and register in SIS (Exam dates icon —> Register). Students have a right of 3 attempts to pass an exam. The results of the exams can be displayed in SIS by clicking on the Summary of exam results icon.
Changes to the Learning Agreement
The enrolment of the courses as well as the changes of the Learning Agreement are done by the Faculty Erasmus Office. Note that the changes of your courses must be finished by the 3rd week after the lecture period starts. The exact date is announced during the Orientation Days! Use this form to make changes to your study plan!
Evaluation of teaching
At the end of the semester, students of the Faculty of Science receive an email with a request to evaluate the courses they studied. The feedback from the last years is accessible here (CU login and password). It may contain very useful information e.g. recommended study materials or students’ personal experiences about the exam.
