The research team concentrates on studying geohazards, modern glaciers, and Quaternary environments. Their work on glacial lake outburst floods and landslides aims to understand their triggers, mechanisms, and societal impacts, while their glacier research focuses on recent ice mass changes and climate-glacier interactions. The team also investigates fluvial, glacial, and periglacial landscapes to reconstruct past environmental conditions and processes. Among the main research themes are:
- Morphostructure and climate-morphogenetic Earth surface development in the younger Cenozoic
- Glacial, periglacial and fluvial processes and landforms
- Field measurements and geodynamic interpretation of actual geomorphologic phenomena and processes
- Geomorphologic hazards and risks, including actual tectonic activity, extreme erosion and fast slope processes
-
Quaternary glaciations and landscape changes
