License Information:
Our faculty has purchased a multi-license for the security software package AVG Anti-Virus Business Edition, which, in addition to the traditional antivirus program, includes protection against spyware, rootkits, and other risks.
The condition for legal use of the faculty's AVG license is proper registration via this form, after which you will receive a license number by email. Registration is tied to the IP address of the computer. The license is valid for three years (until January 2, 2026). Currently, it is not possible to install AVG on computers that are not connected to the faculty-wide computer network.
Registration:
- Please register on this page.
Installation and Activation:
- Prepare the license number obtained from registration for AVG activation.
- Download the latest version of the 32-bit or 64-bit AVG Anti-Virus Business Edition for workstations from the AVG website. If you already have an antivirus program from another vendor installed, you must uninstall it before installation. When upgrading from an older version of AVG, the previous version will be automatically removed, and a computer restart is typically required afterward.
- When the installation starts, agree to the license terms, select "Quick Installation," and optionally install the "AVG Widget."
- In the "License Number" field, enter the license number obtained after filling out the form.
- Then follow the instructions of the installation program; no changes need to be made in the settings.
Note: "AVG Security Toolbar" has the same function as the "dangerous page filter" in Internet Explorer 7 and higher. Its installation is therefore recommended only if you are using an older version of IE or another browser.
Extension of Existing AVG Anti-Virus Business Edition License
The license for a previously installed version of AVG Anti-Virus Business Edition can be extended by entering a new license number, which you will obtain by filling out the form. However, the recommended solution is to install a new version of AVG Anti-Virus Business Edition, as the manufacturer’s support for the old version, including updates, will be discontinued in the near future, making this solution only temporary.
Virus Definition Updates
Virus definition files are updated several times a day directly from the AVG website and do not require user involvement. A computer restart may be required when updating some components.
Note:
Having trouble with registration?
If you receive a message such as: "Sorry, but you do not have permission to change this registration record: IP address: A.B.C.D, Name: First Last, Department: ABC"
it means your computer was previously registered by another person (with a different login). To re-register the computer under your name, please send the current details (IP address, name, department number) to Dr. Kühn via email: kuhn@natur.cuni.cz. Once access to the record is released, you will be able to successfully complete the AVG registration, and a registration number will be sent to you by email.
