Introduction to the three most widely used AI tools at our faculty:

Microsoft Copilot  (https://copilot.microsoft.com/)

Microsoft Copilot is an AI assistant that provides tools to enhance the efficiency of teachers, students, as well as administrative and technical staff. It is available at copilot.microsoft.com for all employees and students of Charles University. More information can be found on the university page of Microsoft Copilot.

The paid version, Microsoft Copilot Pro, allows integration with Microsoft 365 applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and others). It enables users to create, edit, and analyze content stored in the cloud. Recently, assistants (autonomous systems) have been integrated into Microsoft Copilot Pro, allowing tasks to be designed and executed without continuous user supervision. Copilot Pro can automate routine tasks such as planning, creating, and evaluating courses, tests, and assignments. It assists with data analysis, report generation, and scheduling optimization.

The paid license is available for employees of Charles University. The price is approximately 550 CZK per month per license (depending on the current EUR exchange rate and Microsoft pricing). To request a license, apply through the Helpdesk FoS

Google Gemini (https://gemini.google.com/)

Google Gemini is an AI assistant integrated into Google Workspace for Education. Gemini can help teachers create and analyze lesson plans, summarize emails, and generate structure and texts for presentations. In administration, it can automate tasks, summarize long email threads, quickly draft responses, and more. It has a greater ability to generate creative texts such as poems, scripts, stories, and translations compared to the other mentioned AI tools. It is not yet very suitable for generating graphics.

It is available at https://gemini.google.com/ and is integrated into Google applications.

Other AI add-ons are still separate within Education licenses. A cheaper license version costs approximately 480 CZK per month per license (depending on the current USD exchange rate and Google's pricing).

ChatGPT (https://chatgpt.com/)

ChatGPT, developed by OpenAI, is a generative AI chatbot. In administration, it can help automate routine tasks, provide information to students and staff, and excel in creative content generation such as graphics and music. Currently, it provides more up-to-date information, has access to a broader spectrum of knowledge, can generate code in various programming languages, and can simulate human conversations (chatbot) more naturally than the other AI tools mentioned.

Charles University is considering acquiring ChatGPT EDU chatbots, as detailed below. However, no provider has yet submitted an acceptable offer.
