We study parasites and their interactions with hosts and the environment. We combine classical disciplines with advanced technologies. We teach at all levels of study. Our research is internationally recognized and provides insights important for the health of humans and animals.

Parasitologists help develop vaccines against poultry diseases

Parasitologists from Prof. Jan Tachezy's team help uncover the molecular basis of the pathogenicity of parasites from the species Eimeria tenella. These parasites (coccidia) cause the deadly poultry disease coccidiosis, the clinical outbreak of which has a significant impact on the food industry.

From November 13 to 21, an international course organized by Charles University, the University of Warsaw, and Sorbonne University took place at the BIOCEV center. Twelve students from these universities learned the method of studying the diversity of microbial communities in the environment (known as metabarcoding).
