The European Partnership Innovative Health Initiative (IHI) has announced preliminary information about its planned calls 9 and 10 for proposals of international projects. The calls are planned to open in „early 2025“.
IHI is one of the Institutionalised European Partnerships of Horizon Europe.
On 12. – 14. 11. 2024, IHI organise in Brussels a brokerage event (travel grants for brokerage events can be used). Brokerage event and networking platform – the online platform for finding potential project partners will remain open until the call deadline.

Call 9 (single-stage evaluation) should support the following topics, see also the draft call text:
- Topic 1: Boosting innovation for a better understanding of the determinants of health
- Topic 2: Boosting innovation through better integration of fragmented health R&I efforts
- Topic 3: Boosting innovation for peopled centred integrated healthcare solutions
- Topic 4: Boosting innovation through exploitation of digitalisation and data exchange in healthcare
- Topic 5: Boosting innovation for better assessment of the added value of innovative integrated healthcare solutions
Call 10 (two-stage evaluation) should support the following topics (the texts are preliminary):
- Topic 1: Digital label: one source of comprehensive information for medical technology products
- Topic 2: Safeguarding innovation in secondary use of health data in the European Health Data Space (EHDS)
- Topic 3: Per- and Poly-fluoroalkyl substance (PFAS) exposure, emissions, and end of life management in the healthcare sector
The IHI projects usually have to be carried out by international consortia with significant participation of users of the research results. Formally, minimal requirement is participation of at least 3 legal entities from 3 different countries (EU member states or countries associated to Horizon Europe). In practice, the usual size of consortial is ca. 8–25 entities, depending on the nature of the topic.
