At the Charles University Faculty of Science’s gala ball, the Studentský Velemlok Awards were once again presented, annually recognizing the faculty’s most popular teachers based on student evaluations. Instructors from the faculty’s various departments received the awards for the past academic year in recognition of their outstanding teaching quality and inspiring approach to students. We sincerely congratulate all the awardees!

Even in the modern world, infectious diseases represent a serious risk to human health, food security in agriculture, and the protection of wild animals. Innovative approaches that connect immunological research with insights from evolutionary biology can contribute to addressing these challenges. This is precisely the aim of a new European network for evolutionary immunology. The emerging consortium, which met for the first time this year in Prague, connects evolutionary biologists and immunologists from dozens of countries with the aim of establishing evolutionary immunology as an independent scientific field.

The Endowment Fund of the Faculty of Science, Charles University, whose statute includes support for educational, scientific, and research activities carried out at the Faculty, is once again announcing a call for applications for a contribution to support a study visit abroad. In 2026, a total of 12 contributions will be awarded, each in the amount of CZK 40,000. Application deadline: 13 March 2026, Announcement of results: by 21 March 2026.
