On Monday, June 30, 2025, the Department of applied geoinformatics and cartography held a pleasant and informal gathering during which we expressed our gratitude to the outgoing head of department, doc. RNDr. Lucie Kupková, Ph.D., for her dedicated and successful leadership and for the significant contribution that has greatly influenced the direction of the entire department. At the same time, we would like to inform you that as of July 1, 2025, the position of head of department will be taken over by doc. RNDr. Přemysl Štych, Ph.D. We wish the new head of department much success, energy and inspiration in this demanding role!

The 44th EARSeL Symposium took place on 26-29 May 2025, this year in Prague! Most of the DPZ section of our department participated. We presented several talks, including one keynote, a poster, and we were in charge of a special session entitled "Nature conservation: multiscale remote sensing in nature conservation".
