The word analysis comes from the Ancient Greek verb άναλύω meaning to clarify, to unravel, to unveil a mystery, which is based on the words άνά (completely) and λύω (to release, to free). It can be defined as a scientific discipline that develops and applies methods, instruments and strategies to obtain information about the composition and nature of matter in space and time.
