Detailed description of the programme

The program provides education in parasitology and infection biology. Graduates find employment in diagnostics, basic and applied (e.g., biotechnological) research, or the commercial sphere (pharmaceutical industry, biotechnology companies, etc.). Students are acquainted with the phenomenon of parasitism (viruses, prokaryotic and eukaryotic pathogens of hosts of various taxonomic groups), with selected parts of virology, bacteriology, mycology, and parasitology. The emphasis is placed on the diversity of pathogenic organisms, their ecology, epidemiology, and transmission to their hosts, as well as interactions with the infected host (immunological, physiological, biochemical, molecular, and other aspects). Practical training (a large number of practices and laboratory exercises) emphasizes the identification of pathogens in their hosts and the environment, diagnosis and treatment of diseases, and other modern skills usable in today's very dynamic scientific and technological environment.

Study plans (list of lectures) for individual study programmes can be found here.
