The European Partnership Transforming Health and Care Systems (THCS) has open its call for international projects “Better care closer to home: Enhancing primary and community care”. Deadline for pre-proposals is 30. 1. 2025.

Participation of Czech entities will be funded via the Czech Health Research Council (AZV).

If you plan to participate in a proposal, please, contact well in advance, 1 month before the deadline at the latest, the Project Management Department (Martina Holíková, martina.holikova@natur.cuni.cz), so that all the formal requirements of the application can be prepared in time.

If you consider coordinating a project, please contact us IMMEDIATELY, ca. 2 months before the deadline at the very latest.

The call aims to fund research and innovation projects that will strengthen primary and community health and social care systems and provide policy and decision makers with the necessary knowledge and tools in relation to the primary and community care sector.

Proposals are expected to address one of the following sub-topics:

  • Sub-topic 1: Strengthening the primary and community health and care system
  • Sub-topic 2: Systemic approaches to modernising the primary and community care sector

Project duration is 12–36 months. Project consortium must consist of 3–9 partners from at least 3 countries participating in the call,  out of that at least 2 must be EU member states or Horizon Europe associated countries, maximally 2 partners can come from 1 country. Additionally, up to 2 entities not requesting funding can participate in a consortium. Consortia should bring together expertise from most if not all of the following areas: academia, clinical and public health sector, professional medical associations, private sectors, regulatory authorities, patient organisations. Each principal investigator (person) can participate in up to 2 proposals, out of which in up to 1 as a coordinator.
Each partner must fulfil the eligibility criteria of their national funding body.

Countries participating in the call: Austria, Belgium, Canada, Czechia, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Iceland, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland.

Funding of participation of Czech entities will be linked to the Applied Health Research Support Program for 2024 – 2030, Sub-programme 3: European Partnerships in Health. Only applied research will be supported. Total financial allocation for Czech participation in this call is EUR 500 000, maximal funding for the Czech part of one project is EUR 250 000. Maximal funding rate for Czech participants in case of research organisations is up to 100 %.

The proposals are submitted by the coordinator on behalf of the entire consortium via the electronic submission system. Czech participants must simultaneously submit to AZV the compulsory national application annexes.

Submission of the national annexes via data box of Charles University and some of the annexes themselves will be secured by the Project Management Department. Therefore, it is essential for applicants to contact us well in advance (at martina.holikova@natur.cuni.cz).
