The European programme LIFE is preparing the calls for project proposals in 2025. The type of projects that seem particularly relevant for the Faculty of Science are the Standard Action Projects, e.g., in the sub-programme Nature & Biodiversity. The calls are expected to be published on 24. 4. 2025, planned deadlines for the Standard Action Projects are on 23. 9. 2025.
► On 23. 4. 2025, The Czech Ministry of the Environment organise an online training for (potential) partners in the projects of programme LIFE, probably in Czech. Registration (source, both in Czech). Registration is open until 22. 4. 2025, 16:00.
► On 13. – 15. 5. 2025, the online EU LIFE Info Days 2025 will take place and present detailed information for applicants. Event webpage.
We expect that Czech applicants in the European call will have to submit a parallel application to a complementary Czech national call, which usually has a limited number of applications from one institution and has deadline already in June of the respective year.
If you plan to participate in a proposal submitted to a call of the programme LIFE, please, contact as soon as possible, the Project Management Department (Martina Holíková, martina.holikova@natur.cuni.cz), in order to timely ensure the compliance with the rules of the complementary Czech national call.

The European programme LIFE supports projects that have a positive impact on the environment or climate (sub-programmes Nature and Biodiversity, Circular economy and quality of life, Climate change mitigation and adaptation, and Clean Energy Transition). The projects should not focus on the research itself, but rather exploit research results. The projects should have an “added European value” (e.g., be demonstrations activities or technical solutions replicable elsewhere in Europe). Participation of entities from multiple countries in a project is not required.
The funding rate of the Standard Action Projects is usually up to 60 % (up to 75 % in specific cases in the Nature and Biodiversity sub-programme). Czech participants can often get up to additional 25 % of costs funded from the complementary Czech national call.
