- About the Interreg programmes in general.
The programme supports regional projects with cross-border impact. It aims to address common challenges identified in border regions. Project activities must have a positive impact on the programme area, on both sides of the border.
Interreg programmes generally do not fund research, but researchers can be involved in projects as knowledge providers and thus ensure that the results of their research contribute to the implementation of practical solutions in the region.
At least 1 Czech and 1 Saxon partner must participate in a project. Projects must be completed by the end of 2028. Funding rate is up to 80 % (Czech universities can get additional 10 % from a national call). A compulsory consultation of all project partners with the Joint Secretariat and the relevant region must take place before application submission. Submission of a project plan with the signatures of all cooperation partners is required before this consultation.
A project must focus on one of the programme priorities and specific objectives. The following specific objectives, for example, may be relevant for the Faculty of Science:
- Specific objective 2.4 – Promoting climate change adaptation, disaster risk prevention and resilience, taking into account ecosystem approaches
- Specific objective 2.7 – Strengthening the protection and conservation of nature, biodiversity and green infrastructure, including in urban areas, and reducing all forms of pollution
- Specific objective 4.6 – Strengthening the role of culture and sustainable tourism in economic development, social inclusion and social innovation
