Research focus: immune interactions in the parasite-host-vector triad focusing on leishmania infection model, characterization of sand fly salivary proteins , development of serological assays based on recombinant proteins from sand fly saliva
Model organisms: leishmania, phlebotomine sand flies, laboratory mice, serological material from sand fly/leishmania endemic areas (humans, dogs, goats, sheep, ...)
Methodological approaches: sand fly colony rearing, sand fly salivary glands dissection, experimental infection and tissue sampling of animal models, ELFO, Western blot, ELISA, in vitro cell culture, cytometry
