Biology student Jakub Horák and Faculty of Science alumnus Vojtěch Schmidt achieved outstanding success in the 9th edition of the prestigious Czech Nature Photo competition. Jakub Horák won first place in the "Landscape" category, while Vojtěch Schmidt was named the overall winner with his Photograph of the Year.
Representatives of the Faculty of Science, Charles University, achieved significant recognition at the 9th edition of the prestigious Czech Nature Photo 2025 competition. Jakub Horák, a student from the Department of Zoology, won the Landscape category with his photograph Alpská záře (Alpine Glow).
The overall winner of the competition was Vojtěch Schmidt, a graduate of Plant Biology from the Faculty of Science. His photograph Bělokur v bílé tmě (Ptarmigan in White Darkness), taken beyond the Arctic Circle.
The awards ceremony was held on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, at the Plečnik Pavilion at Prague Castle. The exhibition of awarded and selected photographs, titled “Where Nature Rules”, was subsequently opened in the Terezian Wing of Prague Castle, where it will be on display to the public from April 23 to August 17, 2025. The exhibition is open daily from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
