The published article, in which authors from the Institute for Environmental Studies participated, detected estrogenic and antiestrogenic effects in raw and treated drinking water from six drinking water treatment plants in the Czech Republic. While estrogenic activity was removed during water treatment, antiestrogenic activity persisted.

Obituary: Professor Pavel Kindlmann Passes Away

Prof. RNDr. Pavel Kindlmann, DrSc., has passed away. An internationally recognized expert in population ecology and a long-time professor at the Institute for Environmental Studies of the Faculty of Science, Charles University, he was uniquely able to combine exact mathematical modeling with practical nature conservation. In addition to Charles University, he left a significant mark during his career at the University of South Bohemia, the institutes of the Czech Academy of Sciences, and many prominent foreign research institutions. Honour to his memory.
