The ESA EO Training Academy is a European Space Agency-funded initiative aimed at strengthening Earth Observation (EO) education across Europe. The project brings together leading universities, research institutions, and expert organizations to support the next generation of scientists, professionals, and educators in the use of satellite-based EO technologies.

The Academy focuses on:

  • Developing and delivering EO training through in-person and online courses, webinars, and learning challenges.

  • Supporting academic and professional education with high-quality, accessible materials that cover a wide range of EO topics and applications.

  • Expanding ESA's training reach by engaging diverse institutions and participants from across Europe.

Training formats include 5-day in-person courses, multi-day webinars, and EO Challenges, all tailored to provide practical and theoretical knowledge on EO systems, data analysis, and real-world applications.

This project is coordinated by Charles University (Czech Republic) and implemented in collaboration with the University of Ljubljana (Slovenia), Ruhr University Bochum (Germany), Eurisy (France), and the Ignite Education Institute (Germany), in close partnership with ESA.

All training activities are delivered under a program of, and funded by, the European Space Agency.
