The Map Collection of the Faculty of Science of Charles University has opened a new website containing a database of globes, tellurias and armillary spheres. The digital globe collection was created in cooperation with the Department of Applied Geoinformatics and Cartography.

The Map Collection is a university collection for science, research and teaching. It serves the academic staff and students of Charles University, as well as the professional and general public. Globes and their research is becoming increasingly important, so it is important that users have access to high quality 2D or 3D models, metadata and facts on which to base their research.

The map collection of the Faculty of Science of the Charles University has a total of 189* globes, tellurias and armillary spheres in its physical collection.

The digital globe collection contains 97* objects that are not protected by copyright law and can be publicly displayed. Of these, 9 objects are processed as a 3D model. In total, there are 106* objects on this portal, which can be divided into 97 in 2D and 9 in 3D.
