A team of students under the supervision of Ing. Eva Štefanová, Ph.D. from the Department of Applied Geoinformatics of the Faculty of Science of Charles University carried out, in cooperation with the Map Collection of the Faculty of Science of Charles University, Geotronics Prague and the Czech Switzerland National Park, research, documentation and reconstruction of historical rock engravings in the Czech Switzerland National Park.
The engravings in the sandstone rocks in Bohemian Switzerland come from different time periods, some of which are several hundred years old. Due to erosion, these historical artefacts are gradually disappearing, which has led to the need for their documentation and protection. An initial survey of the historical engravings was carried out, which included laser scanning and extensive photographic documentation. The goal of this project is to capture and preserve detailed records of the engravings. There is a need to create accurate digital copies of the engravings to be used for scientific purposes, education and heritage conservation. The project involves the Department of Applied Geoinformatics of the Faculty of Science of Charles University, the Map Collection of the Faculty of Science of Charles University, Geotronics Prague and the Czech Switzerland National Park.
