We are saddened to announce that our dear colleague, teacher, and friend, Prof. Jaroslav Brůžek, passed away yesterday after a serious illness. Jaroslav studied anthropology at our faculty before emigrating to France for personal reasons, where he faced a challenging path in continuing his scientific career. He completed his doctoral studies once again and went on to pursue research at the University of Bordeaux. He undertook numerous research stays abroad and built strong connections with many colleagues and international institutions. With his broad professional perspective, he influenced both Czech and foreign colleagues and mentored many students. Thanks to his outlook on life, generosity, and sense of humor, time spent with him was not only instructive but also enjoyable and memorable. We will remember him this way and continue to draw inspiration from his legacy.
