For the seminar on May 7, 2025, a new lecture by Prof. Hila May has been scheduled, titled "Decoding Human Evolution, Disease, and Behavior: Innovative Research from Fieldwork to Laboratory."
Lecture abstract: The lecture will highlight research on human evolution, health, and behavior through the rich anthropological record of Israel. Studying findings from approximately 130,000 years ago to more recent historical periods enables us to shed new light on how evolutionary and cultural transitions affected skeletal adaptations, social behavior, and health. By employing advanced technologies, such as micro-CT imaging and ancient DNA analysis, the examples presented will illustrate our insights into past human biology and society. These insights not only enhance our understanding of past human populations but also underscore the importance of studying ancient remains to uncover the evolutionary roots of modern health diseases.
