In case of pregnancy, parental care, or providing substitute parental care, we recommend entering the period of parental leave into SIS (see the Notification of pregnancy / birth of a child / taking a child into custody form). The recorded period of parental leave starts 8 weeks before the planned delivery date and terminates when the child reaches 3 years of age for the mother, or from the child’s delivery date to the day the child reaches 3 years of age for the father.
- The pregnancy and the planned date of delivery is evidenced by a copy of the maternity card. The birth certificate of the child has to be delivered to the student affairs division of the faculty 22 weeks after the planned delivery date at the latest.
- The birth of the child is evidenced by enclosing a copy of the child’s birth certificate
- Taking a child into custody is evidenced by enclosing a copy of the relevant legal decision
All the provided documents must either be in Czech or English language. If they are in any other language, a certified translation is required.

Registering a period of parental leave alone does not automatically lead to an interruption of study. If you are planning to interrupt your study in the registered period of parental leave, it is necessary to also apply for the interruption of study.
