It is necessary to register for all the parts of the Final State Examination including the thesis defence in SIS in the Final Exams – (Student) module.
Relevant deadlines (for registering for and signing off of individual parts of the Final State Examination, for the check of study obligations before the Final State Examination, and for submitting the thesis) can be found in SIS in the detail of the date you selected or in the following table.
IT IS NOT POSSIBLE TO REGISTER FOR THE FINAL STATE EXAMINATION OR SUBMIT THE THESIS AFTER THE SET DEADLINE.
For this reason, please do not leave the thesis submission until the last minute. Please be aware that after uploading your work into SIS, a pdf/a format check is performed, which may take several hours. If the file is not uploaded in the correct format, the program will display an error message, and you will not be able to submit your work.
The final check of the thesis in Turnitin takes place after it has been submitted and can take up to several days. It is not necessary to wait for the result of this check.
An unresolved request to extend the publication of your thesis or to submit an attachment to your thesis in a different format is not regarded as a valid reason for not submitting the thesis on time!
Should any issues arise, it is possible to contact the Charles University Public Helpdesk, but it should be kept in mind that it may take a while to receive a response.
To prevent any unpleasant surprises mere moments before the deadline for the check of study obligations, please perform the check as soon as possible, so that any potential issues can be dealt with by the 25th of July at the latest. Given the fact that the Department of Student Affairs is scheduled for closure from the 28th of July until the 8th of August 2025, it will not be possible to deal with any potential problems during this period.
The only exception is if you need to unlock an already submitted bachelor/master thesis and the deadline for its submission has not yet passed. In this case, you can contact Mr. Tomáš Odcházel (phone number: +420 221 951 103, e-mail address: tomas.odchazel@natur.cuni.cz ).
Methodological guidelines for registering for the individual parts of the Final State Examination, for thesis submission, as well as any additional information regarding Final State Examinations and theses can be found online on the Theses, Defenses, and State Examinations page.
