The Technology Agency of the Czech Republic (TA CR) plans the 8th call of the Programme for applied research and innovation Sigma – Sub-objective 2 – bilateral cooperation (formerly the programme Delta 2). Call announcement is planned on 7. 5. 2025, deadline on 9. 7. 2025.

If you plan to apply in this call, please, contact well in advance before the call deadline the Project Management Department (Romana Hogenová, romana.hogenova@natur.cuni.cz), so that all the formal requirements of the application can be prepared in time.

The programme Sigma, Sub-objective 4 supports projects of international cooperation between Czech and foreign companies and research organisations. At least 1 foreign partner from a country participating in the call, must participate in a project. On the Czech side, the main applicant must be a Czech enterprise – a Czech research organisation can take part only as other participant.

Only bilateral collaborations are supported – a project is supported by TA CR and simultaneously by only one participating foreign funding body. Project topic must be in line with the thematic priorities supported by the respective foreign funding body.

TA CR expects that the following foreign funding bodies will participate in the call, and support projects in following thematic areas – see also the preliminary parameters of the call (but negotiations are still ongoing):

  • France: French National Research Agency (ANR);
    Safety and reliability of present nuclear reactors; subtopics: Research in the field of severe accident studies, Research in the field of Radiation on Aging Concrete Structures, Research in the field of modern materials – Accident tolerant fuels (ATF), Small modular reactor fuel (SMR), Additive Manufacturing, High-assay low-enriched uranium (HALEU); Research on materials and fuel cycle to support research reactors; Research in the field of the Generation IV reactors (GFRs and MSRs); Support for the development of Small modular reactors (SMRs) – including collaboration with NUWARD.
  • South Korea: Korea Institute for Advancement of Technology (KIAT);
    Future Mobility; General Machinery and Photonics; Advanced Materials; ICT (including cybersecurity); AI; Robotics and cybernetics; Disaster Resilience, Response and Recovery; Circular Economy.
  • South Korea: Korea Institute of Energy Technology Evaluation and Planning (KETEP);
    Nuclear Research; Hydrogen.
  • Germany – Saxony: Saxon State Ministry for Economic Affairs, Labour and Transport (SMWA);
    (Supported topics will be specified.)
  • USA: Department of Energy of the United States of America (DOE);
    Nuclear Research
  • Israel: Israel Innovation Authority (IIA)
    (No thematic restriction.)
  • Taiwan: Ministry of Economic Affairs (MoEA);
    Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (Drone); Smart Manufacture Technologies (Auto mobile, Machinery, Machine tool); Biotechnologies and Biomedical; Green Energy Technologies; Semiconductor(IC design, Test, Equipment).
  • Taiwan: National Science and Technology Council (NSTC);
    Green Energy; Artificial intelligence applications; Health Care and Biomedicine; Cyber Security; New Agriculture (incl. Smart Agriculture).

Project duration is 12–36 months. Maximal funding rate for the Czech part of the project is 75 %, maximal grant amount is CZK 20 million per project. The proposals must be submitted to TA ČR in English. Compulsory parts of the proposal include a market research and a common proposal confirming the commitment of the foreign partner to participate in the project.
