The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic has announced programmes for strengthening the capacities of public universities in developing countries and in Ukraine. Deadline for both programmes is 6. 1. 2025.
If you plan to apply in a call of this programme, please contact the International Relations Office of the Charles University Rectorate (Radek Čajka, radek.cajka@ruk.cuni.cz). Applications are submitted electronically via the GRANTYS system of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, access to the system is facilitated by the International Relations Office of the Charles University Rectorate.

The project proposal must include a demonstrated interest of a public higher education institution (HEI) from a partner country – a developing country according to the OECD/DAC classification, or from Ukraine – to actively participate in the project implementation. It is possible to apply with projects planned to end in 2025 as well as for projects with a multi-year implementation (however, the grant decision will only allocate funds for 2025). Maximum grant amount is CZK 1.5 million per project, maximum funding rate is 90 % (approximate preliminary financial allocation is CZK 9 million for the programme targeting developing countries and CZK 10 million for the programme targeting Ukraine).
Preferred project activities and outputs:
- Introduction of a new or innovated course into the standard curriculum of the partner HEI
- Preparation and implementation of a joint study programme of the cooperating HEIs
- Improving the qualifications of teaching and management staff of the partner HEI
- Support for obtaining international accreditation or a research grant of the partner HEI
- Intensive research cooperation and support of publication activities of the partner HEI
- Identification of candidates for inclusion in the development scholarship programme
