As a population geneticist, my main interest is understanding how genetic variation shapes and is shaped by evolutionary processes.
In my PhD project, I apply this perspective to the study of the gut microbiome in primates, focusing particularly on bacteriophages and their interactions with microbial communities. By combining population genetics, metagenomics, and bioinformatics, I aim to uncover patterns of phage diversity, host specificity, and co-evolution in both humans and great apes.
