Department of Zoology
Research focus: Currently I am mainly working on Quaternary molluscs and their use for reconstructing the environment in the recent geological past. We are working both on the Holocene succession of mollusc communities of Central Europe and, more recently, on older Quaternary material. This field has a century-old tradition in our country, which we are continuing. We cooperate with other experts such as palaeobotanists, geologists and archaeologists. At the same time, we study the influence of the anthropogenic environment on recent and Holocene molluscs and their distribution in the present and post-glacial landscape.
Teaching: I teach Invertebrate zoology, Development of nature in the Czech Republic, Marine fauna of the Mediterranean, Malacology, Fauna of the Czech and Slovak Republics - lecture and weekly field exercises, Zoological excursions in the surroundings of Prague, Excursions marine and terrestrial fauna of the Mediterranean, Practical course on marine fauna.
