Area of expertise: Diversity, evolution of adaptations, taxonomy, morphology, phylogeny and phylogenomy of parasitoid Hymenoptera

Research interests: Our team is generally interested in the diversity, phylogeny and evolution of different groups of hymenopteran parasitoids. Using several fascinating models from the superfamilies Chalcidoidea and Ichneumonoidea (gall-maker parasitoids, secondary phytophagous species, egg parasitoids, spider parasitoids) combined with state-of-the-art morphological and molecular techniques, we are investigating the role of morphological and functional adaptations on parasitoid diversification. We also address the taxonomy of selected groups of hymenopteran parasitoids, including the study of their overall unrecognized diversity and potential use for conservation purposes.

Teaching: I am involved in teaching courses related to entomology or invertebrate zoology. Specifically, I teach Diversity of Insects, Entomology, Interdisciplinary Excursion to European Ecosystems, Practicum in Invertebrate Zoology, Advanced field course in zoology, Field Course in Zoology, Field Course in Zoology for Teachers, Terrestrial Ecosystems, Introduction to Entomology
