Library of the Geographical Sciences

In 1891, the Geographical Institute was established and with it the Library of the Geographical Sciences. Today it contains 105,000 volumes with an annual increase of 2,500 volumes. The library is publicly accessible with priority right for students, employees and teachers of the faculty.

Next week, the Arctic Festival 2025 begins, an an event commemorating rich cultural cooperation between the Czech Republic and the Arctic. The opening event will be the ceremonial launch of the book of interviews with Czech polar explorers, Planeta tajícího ledu, which will take place on Monday, 20 October 2025, from 5:30 p.m. in the Božská lahvice bookstore.
