The research group of geomorphology and geodynamics deals with the issue of Earth's surface development and recent dynamics of surface processes in the context of all physical-geographical parts of the natural environment. General and regional correlations of the above-mentioned research are the priorities. The research is systematically done in selected Earth areas, e.g. in European and Asian mountain ranges, in the Andes, the Antarctic and Africa. Group members cooperate with geomorphologics from Cambridge, Oxford, Strasbourg and other universities. Among the main research themes belong:

  • Morphostructure and climate-morphogenetic Earth surface development in the younger Cenozoic
  • Glacial, periglacial and fluvial processes and landforms
  • Field measurements and geodynamic interpretation of actual geomorphologic phenomena and processes
  • Geomorphologic hazards and risks, including actual tectonic activity, extreme erosion and fast slope processes
  • Quaternary glaciations and landscape changes
