On March 20, 2025, the headquarters of GHIC hosted the third presentation of semester projects prepared by students as part of the Seminar on Applied Demography II course.

The collaboration between the Faculty of Science, Charles University, and GHIC allows students to work with real data and address key demographic topics identified by the health insurance company as relevant for their practice.

This year’s projects focused on two key topics:

  • The volume of reported medical services by age, sex, and municipality size (Adéla Prystaszová, Alžběta Soukupová)
  • Model-based projections of new capacities considering demographic trends (Jakub Houdek, Tereza Trčková)

Under the supervision of doc. Luděk Šídlo, students applied their demographic knowledge along with analytical skills needed for working with healthcare data. The results were presented to representatives of GHIC, including senior officials, and may serve as a basis for setting contractual and reimbursement mechanisms.

This collaboration offers students a valuable experience—not only the opportunity to work with real data but also to receive feedback from industry professionals. GHIC has expressed continued interest in further projects, and we look forward to the continuation of this successful partnership.
