Dean’s Measure No. 14/2021
On Studies Conducted in English Language

Article 1
Introductory Provision

Studies within the programme conducted in a foreign language take place in accordance with the Act No. 111/1998 Coll., on Higher Education Institutions. The conditions of studies of foreigners are regulated by Article 23 of the Statute of Charles University, by the Study and Examination Regulations of the Charles University and the Rules of Study at the Faculty of Science of the Charles University. The Dean's instructions for providing studies in programmes conducted in the Czech language also apply to  programmes conducted in a foreign language, unless stated otherwise.

Article 2
Tuition Fees

  1. Student is obliged to pay a tuition fee (hereinafter the “Fee”) for studies conducted in a foreign language on the basis of Decision on the assessment of the fee, which is issued after enrolling the student in the study programme as well as enrolling in each subsequent year. The amount of the Fee is set out in the Appendix No. 2 to the Statute of Charles University – “Fees associated with the study”. The Fee is payable on the 15th day after the Decision on the assessment of the fee takes legal effect.
  2. In the event of a delay in the payment of the tuition fee for studying in a foreign language, the Dean of the faculty shall interrupt the studies in accordance with Article 6 (3) a) of the Study and Examination Regulations of the Charles University.

Article 3
Management of Fees for Studying in a Foreign Language

Fees for studying in a foreign language consider financial source obtained within the main activity of the Faculty. Funds obtained from the Fees are kept in the accounting records separately.

Article 4
Distribution of the financial sources

  1. Financial sources in the amount of the 80 % of the total amount obtained from the Fees pursuant to Article 2 shall be transferred once a year, always by 1 February of the following calendar year, to the  relevant orders of the Faculty workplaces (departments / institutes), that conduct the studies programme.
  2. The remaining 20 % of the sources pursuant to Article 2 shall be kept on the order managed by the Department of Student Affairs of the Faculty to cover the administrative costs associated with the studies conducted in a foreign language.

Article 5
Final Provisions

  1. This Provision repeals the Dean’s measure No. 15/2009.
  2. This Provision becomes valid and effective upon its publication.
  3. Persons responsible for the implementation of this measure and the control of its compliance are the ViceDean for Study  Affairs, the Head Secretary of the Faculty and the Head of the Department of Student Affairs.
