Prof. Jakub Abramson
Professor Jakub Abramson is an Associate Professor in the Department of Immunology and Regenerative Biology at the Weizmann Institute of Science in Israel. He earned his M.Sc. in Biochemistry from the Institute of Chemical Technology in Prague in 2000. He completed his Ph.D. at the Weizmann Institute in 2005 and subsequently conducted postdoctoral research at Harvard Medical School.
In January 2011, Prof. Abramson established his own laboratory at the Weizmann Institute, focusing on understanding how immunological tolerance to self is established in the thymus and how the breakdown of this process results in autoimmunity. His research employs a broad range of tools, including molecular biology, multiomics, microscopy, in-vivo gene editing, and genetically manipulated mouse models, as well as studies on human patients.
Prof. Abramson has received several prestigious awards, including the European Research Council (ERC) Consolidator Grant Award in 2016, the Krill Prize for Excellence in Scientific Research in 2016, and the Abisch-Frenkel Award in 2014.
