Charles University awarded the honorary title of doctor honoris causa to a physical chemist and molecular biologist

Charles University has awarded honorary doctorates honoris causa to two distinguished international experts: professor of physical chemistry Michael Grätzel at the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne, and professor of molecular biology Kari Jussi Hemminki, who is currently conducting research at the Biomedical Centre of the Faculty of Medicine in Pilsen, Charles University.

At this year's GIS Esri Conference in the Czech Republic, researchers Mgr. Günter Kyncl and RNDr. Jakub Lysák, Ph.D., achieved significant success. Their poster, titled Detection and Analysis of Terrain Skeleton Lines in Rock Formations, won third place in the poster competition, which featured a total of 34 contestants.

Faculty of Science Takes the Lead in a COST Action on Parental Leave and Social Sustainability

Charles University became a grant holder of the COST Action titled Parental Leave Policies and Social Sustainability. Associate Professor Jiřina Kocourková from the Department of Demography and Geodemography at the Faculty of Science, Charles University, assumed the role of scientific representative for the project in January. In April, she will take over as the chair of the entire action, which began in 2022 and will continue until October 2026.
