Student innovation project offer

The newly piloted innovation platform in Prague offers university students participation in a project based on the method of promoting entrepreneurship from the Finnish company Demola Global, where teams of students from different disciplines work on visionary topics that are defined in cooperation with companies from the Czech Republic and beyond. Within these projects, students meet with leading managers of innovative entities and gain valuable practical experience and contacts. The deadline for applications is 13 October 2024. The working language of the project is English.

Understanding the Liver Fibrosis: Insights from Alagille Syndrome

What determines how much scar tissue one develops in the liver when suffering from liver disease (so-called fibrosis)?” A little fibrosis is normal and helps repair after injury, but often the fibrosis escalates, leading to liver failure. To answer this, researchers from Faculty of Science, Charles University, Jan Mašek, Ph.D. and colleagues, and Karolinska Institute studied a genetic disease called Alagille syndrome, which is characterized by surprisingly mild liver fibrosis despite severe liver disease (pericellular fibrosis instead of bridging).

On Tuesday, 23 September 2024, a festive seminar was held in the CH2 lecture hall of the Institute of Chemistry, Faculty of Science, to launch the year of celebrating the 100th anniversary. The seminar was held under the auspices of the Dean of the Faculty of Chemistry, Prof. Jiří Zima, and the Division of Analytical Chemistry of the European Chemical Society.
