Samsung Galaxy TAB S7 FE 5G and S9 FE+ Tablets
The Map and Data Centre has twenty seven Samsung Galaxy TAB S7 FE 5G and S9 FE+ tablets available for loan to Geography Institute staff for teaching purposes. The tablets contain Android operating system and have a 12 inch screen. The tablets can be connected to a Wi-Fi network or to 5G mobile network. The tablets contain GNSS sensor for GPS, GLONASS, BDS, GALILEO. Basic applications from ESRI are installed on the tablets.
Computing Station
A powerful PC station is available to Geography Institute staff by prior arrangement. Computing power is provided by Intel Core i7-12700, 4.90 GHz, 25MB L3 LGA1700, BOX. The PC has 64GB DDR4 3600MHz RAM, AMD Radeon RX 6900 XT Phantom Gaming D 16G OC (16GB GDDR6) graphics card and 1TB SSD storage. You can also connect to the station remotely.
DJI Mavic 3 Pro Drone
A DJI Mavic 3 Pro class C2 professional photography drone was purchased in 2024. The drone is equipped with three cameras with a maximum resolution of 48Mpx photos and 5K video (5120 x 2700). Operating time on a single battery is 43 minutes. The drone can be used for research purposes by sectional workers by arrangement with the assistance of a trained MDC pilot.
S3 Data Repository
As part of the activities of the Map and Data Centre, scientific research teams and laboratories of the Geography Section at the Faculty of Science, Charles University, have access to a shared Amazon S3 data repository provided through the CESNET infrastructure. This repository is intended for the secure storage, sharing, and management of data generated within project activities or the scientific work of individual teams. Each team is allocated up to 200 GB of storage space. The Map and Data Centre provides full support to users in setting up and configuring the repository, which can be accessed either via Python or through the open-source application Cyberduck, offering a user-friendly interface (available for both Windows and macOS). If you are interested in obtaining access to the repository or require consultation, please feel free to contact the colleagues from the Map and Data Centre. They will be happy to provide detailed information, assist with the installation of necessary tools, ensure a smooth setup process, or arrange training for members of your team.
