Our vision: The best science arises when independent researchers are given consistent support to pursue questions they define.

   Head: Klára Hlouchová

  • My research explores fundamental questions about the origin and evolution of proteins, be it in the era of prebiotic Earth, extant biological or synthetic life. One of the central aims is deciphering the effect of amino acid repertoire on protein structure/function and life's viability. I am a big fan of interdisciplinarity and frontiers that challenge established protocols.

   Vice-head: Petra Špačková

Our objective is to enhance support for research within the faculty and strengthen the collaboration between Principal Investigators (PIs) and the administration to ensure greater efficiency for both parties. Key focus areas include: (i) improving the support system for grant proposal preparation and implementation, (ii) optimizing administrative processes, and (iii) expanding childcare services on campus—including nursery care for children under 2.5 years old—to better support researchers balancing their professional and parental responsibilities.
