The faculty's strategic intent is a key program document that sets the direction and main goals for development in the faculty's main areas of activity. It's a legally required document that's created in dialogue with the academic community, based on the faculty's long-term values and the university's long-term plan, and sets specific goals and measures for achieving them. The current strategic plan expires at the end of 2025. Therefore, in June, the Dean's Council began preparing a new plan for the period 2026-30.
"The strategic intent is primarily an agreement on the direction of development. It is therefore not just a final document, but perhaps more valuable is the process of preparation, thanks to which we can all share the faculty's vision and be its bearers. Such an approach seems necessary in an institution that, with its diversity, is itself a small university and prides itself on the high degree of autonomy of its academic community members."

Current status
During the summer months, development goals have been prepared in thematic working groups.
Who’s Who in Preparing the Faculty’s Strategic Intent
- Dean – Submits the strategic plan for approval, is responsible for its final form, and formulates and guarantees the faculty’s vision.
- Faculty Academic Senate – Approves the strategic plan and, throughout its preparation, represents the voice of the academic community.
- Dean’s Collegium – Individual vice-deans and the faculty secretary contribute to the preparation of the plan within their respective portfolios, engage other stakeholders, and coordinate work within their departments.
- Faculty Scientific Council – Discusses the draft and provides feedback on its content and form.
- Rectorate of Charles University – Prepares the university’s strategic plan, with which the faculty’s plan should be aligned. The Rectorate has no approval authority over the faculty’s document.
- External Partners – Since the faculty’s development is closely linked with other actors, our partners are invited to selected meetings. In this sense, the strategic plan also serves as an agreement on joint development.
- Faculty Public – The experiences and interests of the public are primarily represented by the faculty’s representative bodies (student and staff chambers of the academic senate). The public is also invited to selected meetings during the preparation process and has the opportunity to provide input during the consultation phase.
