Dr. Sumit Das
ABOUT ME
As a geomorphologist and Principal Investigator leading the Coupled Earth Surface Research Group, I develop integrative frameworks that bridge multiple Earth science subdisciplines to understand how landscapes evolve across spatio-temporal scales in a warming world. My research combines geomorphology with climate science, geochemistry, engineering geology, remote sensing, and geoinformatics to examine how tectonics, climate variability, and extreme events interact to drive Earth surface processes and geomorphic change. I focus on advancing understanding of landscape dynamics and environmental forcing across the Himalayas, Alps, and Peninsular India.
My service on the editorial boards of Science of the Total Environment, CATENA, and The Innovation Geoscience reflects my engagement in advancing and disseminating integrative Earth science. I also contribute as a peer reviewer for a broad range of international journals, including Nature Geoscience, Geomorphology, and Journal of Hydrology.
