COST Action CA24133:
European network for animal evolutionary immunology: interlinking laboratory and wildlife infection biology (EVIM-NET)

EVIM‑NET brings together leading experts across evolutionary ecology, immunology, genomics, and veterinary science to tackle infectious‑disease challenges that affect human health, agriculture, and wildlife. By building a strong European research network, the Action connects disciplines that rarely meet, creates shared standards and tools for studying immune‑function diversity, and accelerates innovative approaches to predicting immune responses across species. With a strong focus on training young researchers and transferring knowledge to key stakeholders in veterinary medicine, diagnostics, conservation, and breeding, EVIM‑NET aims to drive real‑world impact and shape the future of evolutionary immunology.
EVIM-NET interlinks scientists and practitioners with top expertise in:
- immunogenomics and bioinformatics (comparative genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics and structural bioinformatics)
- evolutionary analyses (positive / balancing selection testing, phylogeny-phenotype matching, convergent evolution)
- classical “hardcore” immunology (functional in vitro protein variant testing, analysis of immunological regulation, immunomonitoring, cellular phenotyping)
- animal and veterinary science to explore immunogenetic and molecular phenotypic diversity effects on immune responses across a wide variety of domestic, as well as wild animal species and populations.
Science Communication Plan
Our Science Communication Plan is now available. It outlines how the Action will strategically communicate, disseminate, and translate its interdisciplinary research to scientists, industry partners, policymakers, and the wider public, ensuring broad impact, collaboration, and capacity‑building across Europe.
