Establishing cooperation with the American University of Iraq-Sulaimani (AUIS)
On April 29-30, 2024, members of the REGPOL research team from the Department of Social Geography and Regional Development visited the American University of Iraq-Sulaimani (AUIS). A Memorandum of Cooperation with our faculty was presented to University President Bruce Walker Ferguson.
Established in 2006, AUIS now offers 23 different study programs and over 1,400 students from all over Iraq study here. Filip Sommer, a doctoral student in the regional and political geography program, is currently working here as an intern.
The possibilities of cooperation based on pedagogical exchanges, student projects, and research projects were subsequently discussed with colleagues from the Department of Social Sciences and Law.
