TA CR Sigma, Sub-objective 5, applied research centres: open call

The Technology Agency of the Czech Republic (TA CR) has announced the 13^th call of the Programme for applied research and innovation Sigma – Sub-objective 5: applied research centres. Deadline is 17. 9. 2025.

ATTENTION! One research organisation (e.g., Charles University) can in one topic submit only one proposal as the main applicant.
Potential main applicants had to contact the rectorate in June.
New candidates CAN NO LONGER start preparing a proposal in the role of the main applicant.

If you plan to participate in a proposal as additional partner, please, contact well in advance the Project Management Department (Romana Hogenová, romana.hogenova@natur.cuni.cz), so that all the formal requirements of the application can be prepared and the proposal budget checked in time.

Proposals submitted without the knowledge of the Project Management Department and without pre-negotiating co-financing run the risk that if the proposal is successful, the faculty will not consent to start the project.

This call of the Sub-objective 5 should support the establishment and development of applied research centres that will link research organisations and enterprises to address strategic topics with high application potential. These long-term research projects are intended to produce practically applicable results and to promote their application in practice.

Topics of the 13^th call:

• AI4CZ – Artificial intelligence in research, development and innovation
• Circular economy and raw material security
• Affordable, resilient and interconnected transport for the security of the czech republic in a multipolar environment
• Semiconductors

In this call, the main applicant must be a research organisation – and one research organisation can in one topic submit only one proposal as the main applicant. Additionally, at least 1 enterprise must participate. Project duration is 72–84 months (i.e. 6-7 years). Maximal funding per project differs for different topic (up to CZK 400 million in case of AI4CZ and Semiconductors; up to CZK 200 million in case of the other two topics), maximal funding rate is 80 % (for the whole project).
